HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
How Does Someone become a member of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Managers’ Club?

The first step is to determine what type of member you would be:

There are four (4) types of club Members:

Active Members: Active members are those members whose dues are paid for the current year and who have either a position of management, or are involved in the care and management of, or hold an advisory position at a Thoroughbred operation. A Thoroughbred operation shall be defined as any active business dealing with any of the following activities: breeding, boarding, buying, selling, consulting about, training or racing Thoroughbred horses. Active Members are entitled to one (1) vote at membership meetings and shall be responsible for the election of Officers and Directors of the corporation. Those members whose dues are in arrears shall have all of the rights and privileges of Active Members, except they shall not be entitled to vote either at membership meetings or for the election of Officers and Directors. Dues are $45 per year.
  2. Associate Members: Associate Members are those members whose dues are paid for the current year and who have an interest in the Thoroughbred horse industry, but who do not have the position of an Active Member at a Thoroughbred operation. Associate Members are non-voting members. Dues are $60 per year.
  3. Honorary Members: Any Active member may propose a candidate for Honorary Membership. The proposal shall be referred to the Board of Directors for consideration and, if favorably recommended by it, the candidate shall be voted on by the membership. Honorary membership shall not be assessed dues and are not entitled to vote at membership meetings.
  4. Life Members: Any Active Member may propose a candidate for Life Membership. The proposal shall be referred to the Board of Directors for consideration and, if favorably recommended by the Board, the candidate shall be voted on pursuant to a ballot presented to the membership by either electronic or USP mail service. A Life Member shall be considered an Active Member and shall have all of the rights and privileges and the vote of an Active Member except that Life Members shall not be assessed dues.

The next step is to fill out an application. After your application has been submitted and the application dues have been paid, it will be presented to our Board of Directors for approval at the next board meeting. You will be notified of the results of their decision by mail within 10 days of that meeting.
Dues must be paid for your application to be processed. If your application is accepted by the board your dues will cover your first year’s annual dues. Dues are owed in January of each year. Applications not accepted will have their dues returned.
